Out of 225, only 120 of them are used for operational matters.

4. France 

France is ranked as the 4th country with the most nuclear weapons in the world as of 2023. It has about 290 nuclear warheads.

Also, they became the 4th country to develop a nuclear weapon in 1960. France is among the five countries with such devastating weapons. It is also part of the countries that signed the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons treaty. Out of the 290, more than half, that is, 280, are being deployed with operational forces.

3. China 

Among the most recognised technological countries, China ranks as the 3rd country with the most nuclear warheads. China has about 410 nuclear warheads as of 2023. In 1964, they became the fifth country with the most nuclear weapons.

Out of the 5,244 nuclear warheads, 1,670 have been deployed. Per reports, about 1,536 of the nuclear weapons have been retired.

1. Russia 

Undoubtedly, Russia tops the list of the top 5 and 10 countries with the most nuclear warheads. Russia has close to 6,000 nuclear warheads as of 2023. Russia is the country with the most nuclear warheads as of 2023. Their nuclear weapons are estimated to be 5,889.

Out of the 5,889, 1,400 of them have been retired and also 1,674 have been deployed.
