NPP super delegates conference: Ben Ephson predicts two aspirants among Adai-Nimoh, Joe Ghartey, Boakye Agyarko to join top 3 for November 4 showdown
Benjamin Emmanuel Ephson, pollster and Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper has said two persons between Joe Ghartey, Francis Adai Nimo and Boakye Agyarko will join the three top candidates for the final slots for the NPP presidential primary.
Ten (10) persons are aspiring for the flagbearership position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) pending the 2024 general elections.
As part of the party’s new regulations, the 10 candidates are going to be trimmed to five through a super delegates conference on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Meanwhile, pundits have tipped candidates Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former Trade and Industry minister, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President with Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, as the top three candidates ahead of the super delegates conference leaving the other seven to contest for the two remaining slots.
According to Mr. Ephson, Joe Ghartey, Francis Adai-Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko stand tall among the remaining seven, and a dint of hard work from any two will take them to the top five.
Speaking with Yaa Titi Okrah on Onua FM/TV’s afternoon political talkshow, ‘Pae Mu Ka’ Thursday, August 24, 2023, the pollster noted that, per his research which was conducted purposely for the November 4 general contest, Joe Ghartey came fourth after the top three candidates making him the most likely candidate among the possible three.
Meanwhile, a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Social Science Research at the Kumasi Technical Institute, Prof. Smart Sarpong has categorised the 10 aspirants into three groups.
He says the first group are those who do not need any scientific research to be told they will make the top five, comprising Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.
Francis Adai-Nimoh, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku and Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku according to Prof. Sarpong make up the second group who outrightly are out of the contest, with Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Joe Ghartey, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong and Boakye Agyarko comprising the third group.
He has been explaining that, any two persons from the third group could join the standing three to make the five final candidates for the November 4 showdown.
