The information available to the Ghana Education News team shows at least 8 new rules and changes for the 2022 National Standardised have been formulated to guide the conduct of the National Standardised Test (NST) have been released.
The 2022 National Standardised Test (NST) test will be administered on 15th December 2022 across the nation.
Which category and group of students will take part in the 2022 edition of the National Standardised Test (NST)?
Basic 2 and basic 4 learners in public and private basic schools will take part in the test. This will be the second edition, but the first for private schools. Private school candidates for the NST are required to pay a fee whiles public school learners take the exam for free.
Why was the NST introduced?
The Minister of Education, Hon. Adutwum has stressed that the data obtained from the administered test will be valuable in helping the country to improve learning outcomes and reduce learning poverty.
The 8 rules and changes for the 2022 National Standardised Test
#1. Apart from question sheets, the ministry of education through the WAEC will provide learners with scannable answer sheets.
#2. To ensure the accurate identity of candidates, the learners will be issued 4-digit Index Numbers. Primary two candidates will have the number “2” starting their index numbers whiles basic 4 learners’ index numbers will start with 4.
#3. Test booklets will be provided to candidates to enable them to show workings for mathematical problems asked in the examination.
#4. “Test Administrators will read the instructions and an example test item to the learners. Test Administrators will not read any test items from the test booklet itself – only from their TA script” the Standardised Test document stated.
#5. Test Administrators will read instructions and an example test item to the learners in the administration of the English Language test.
#6. Questions papers will be coded and questions serialized for all subjects taken during the 2022 National Standardised Test. This will ensure that each candidate has a different set of questions to avoid “copying and cheating”.
#7. Note that “each test form will be assigned serial codes with different orders of questions” per the NST document.
#8. The 2022 National Standardised Test for basic 2 and 4 will be administered using the same rules and regulations.
