Ghana’s dominance in women’s school-level football across Africa has become a tradition as the Black Damsels (the national girls’ school team) have reached the final of the ongoing 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship.
The competition, currently being held in Harare, Zimbabwe, will see Ghana compete for the trophy once again. As the defending champions, having won the inaugural title in 2025, the team is on the verge of a historic achievement.
A narrow 1–0 victory over Zambia in their semifinal match secured them the win and a ticket to the grand final. As the defending champions, they did not only play high-quality football but also delivered a 360-degree performance characterized by total team discipline and determination—qualities mirrored in their play throughout the tournament.
Blessing Tettey was Ghana’s sole goal scorer on the day. Her strike, just seven minutes into the game, proved decisive and clinched the final spot for Ghana. The Black Damsels’ clinical run to the final gives them the perfect opportunity to defend their title.
Ghana will now turn its focus to the final, aiming once again to be crowned champions of Africa’s premier school football competition.

The Black Damsels have displayed immense scoring power and resilience, scoring 9 goals and conceding only 2 on their way to the 2026 final. After winning their first two games, they lost their final group match 0–1 to Burkina Faso but bounced back to win their semifinal by a similar 1–0 margin.
