Teaser: Teacher Kwadwo was sacked using a headquarters report that says it’s only GES council that can sack any teacher and since the council is not yet constituted, teacher Kwadwo should stay away from GES until the council is formed. But this stay away is not the suspension that was recommended by his district/region. So what kind of stay away is that?
1. Pocket lawyers like me can win this case but we are not qualified to wear the lawyers wig and stand in court
2. Teacher Kwadwo and his SISO have threatened court action. For me, I believe the SISO can not even afford the filling of the case in court. Am not demeaning him but I have an idea how much it cost to hire a lawyer. It’s too expensive for a teacher to try.
3. I have some degree of belief teacher Kwadwo can pursue the court case because of his other abilities. Then I saw his demeanor in a live video where he was trying to calm the political clouds over his head. I realized he has been well advised he will not be fighting a court case in court but he will be fighting powers from above in court
4. A day or two later, I saw his departure abroad. This travel might be for one or two reasons. First, give everything to God. Second is the theory that, you don’t use good money to chase bad money. Why will he spend a lot in court which might end up being more than the salaries he would earn the rest of his years as a teacher.
5. As for his headteacher, God has already received his plea for committing everything to him.
6. In all these is the availability of lawyers in the system and the cost of hiring them. As you read this, can you hire/pay a lawyer for any form of victimization? This is the foundation of all injustice, victimization, oppression, and yes sir master in Ghana.
7. Elsewhere, cats and dogs have lawyers. Lawyers are paid in advance to make sure wills in favour of animals are carried out properly when the owners die. Here, people are oppressed every day, killed, jailed wrongly jailed, or given stiffer sentences because they do not have lawyers to represent them
8. Upto 2016, admissions into the school of law is less than 500people per year while there are multiple universities training LLB students of upto 1,500students a year.
9. This trend of 500 admissions continues in 2017 & 2018. Then the
worse happened in 2019 were less than 140 students were admitted out of over 3000 applicants
10. A miracle occurred in 2020 an election year. Over 1,100 people were admitted. After the elections, 2021, the default settings returned, about 700 people were admitted.
11. After the heavy demonstration in 2019 by the law students, I expected legal education to take a center stage during election 2020 but to my surprise, it’s like nobody gives a damn. Even the NDC which was a bit aggressive on the issue relaxed its stand and at the end of the day, electorates did not care about their legal freedom.

12. So I asked myself, why did both parties care less about citizens ability to hire lawyers to fight victimization, oppression, injustice, remand issues, stiffer sentences, and even we the youth who needs lawyers to help draft our business agreements or settle legal issues associated with running a business?
