Chelsea were bottom of Group E before Wednesday’s match against AC Milan, with just one point from two games.

Graham Potter’s side rose to second with a 3-0 win over Milan, arguably the team’s best performance of the season.

Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher scored a last-gasp winner against Crystal Palace last weekend to give the London club 13 points from their first seven games.

The Blues are four points behind third-place Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand and have winnable games against Aston Villa and Brentford before hosting Manchester United.

Chelsea hasn’t beaten Wolves in the Premier League since July 2020, with the most recent match ending 2-2.

Wolves fired Lage after Saturday’s 2-0 loss to West Ham, which left them in 18th place with six points.

The strugglers have won just one of eight Premier League games and scored just three goals. Chairman Jeff Shi said he had “no choice but to act.”

Wolves want to hire Julen Lopetegui, who left Sevilla, but nothing will happen before this weekend’s match at Stamford Bridge.

Former Championship team Steve Davis and James Collins will pick and lead the team for this match at Stamford Bridge.

Wolves have avoided defeat in their last two Premier League visits to Chelsea. They do not have any European commitments this season, but they face Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and Brentford in October.
