RME: See What The Chief Examiner Said About Those Who Define Terms Before Answering Question

RME: See What The Chief Examiner Said About Those Who Define Terms Before Answering Question

One of the important weaknesses of candidates that the Chief Examiner has observed is that, BECE candidates waste their time on definitions. He revealed that, “some of the candidates wasted time by defining some terms in the questions before answering them”. This is very true. For some reason, candidates have resorted in using definitions in their introductions as if they are writing an essay. Some candidates do this intentionally so that their words will become plenty.

An answering strategy that candidates might use for such a question is to define what covenant is before answering the main question. According to the Chief Examiner, this is very irrelevant. This is the suggestion the Chief Examiner gave.

“Candidates should ensure that they provide just what the questions demanded in order not to provide irrelevant materials which earn them no marks”

Also, he revealed that some of the candidates could not express themselves well in the English Language and this contributed to their low performance. According to him, there was a lot of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in the answers. As a remedy, the Chief Examiner suggested that candidates must cultivate the habit of reading story books. He also advised candidates to also learn how to write legibly to ensure that their examination script are easily read.
