The Faculty of Accounting and Finance (FAF) has taken delivery of some 20 educational tablets, financed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

The pen tabs are meant to facilitate online course delivery and augment the University’s effort to integrate mobile technologies into its academic processes.

Making the presentation on behalf of the CEO of ICAG on Friday, October 14, the Director of Students Services at ICAG, Mr Patrick Mensah, noted that advancement in technology is fast impacting tertiary educational delivery and students’ approaches to learning.

He stressed that it is crucial for important stakeholders like the ICAG and ACCA to lend their support to UPSA in its quest to enrich the educational experiences of students through the use of educational tools.

For his part, Mr Kwaku Annim Boadu, ACCA Education Relationship Lead for West and Central Africa, lauded the FAF for its invaluable contribution towards the training of accounting and financial graduates who continue to excel at the professional level.

The Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Prof Raymond Dziwornu, was confident the tablets would improve access to educational materials by lecturers, improve classroom learning, and enhance student achievement.

“Online teaching has now become the new norm for most forward-looking universities,” he said.

“The educational gadgets will therefore support the blended teaching and learning policy of the University while enabling our lecturers to effectively teach accounting and quantitative-related courses online for better understanding by students.”

Prof Dziwornu added: “The lecturers can now better demonstrate solutions to accounting and quantitative problems online with much ease.”
