Your time as president has been a wasted opportunity – Martin Amidu jabs Akufo-Addo

Martin Amidu, former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, blamed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for Ghanaians’ current hardships.

On November 3, 2022, Amidu called Akufo-government corrupt and greedy.

He added that the president and his appointees’ selfishness caused the country’s current situation.

“Mr. President, your promises and entreaties to Ghanaians to try you as our elected President seemed sincere as the person to be trusted to turn this country around. Time has shown your presidency to be one of wasted opportunity, greed, avarice, and selfish devotion to your family and friends who make up your government and the foreign governments and associates you prefer over those who elected you to serve our country.

Your management style and national polarization have crippled our economy. You seem to have wasted our constitutional preamble’s national aspirations and state policy directives.

“Mr. President, as one of the suffering people of Ghana who served my country in public office and came out without much to show for that service, very few Ghanaians today, including members of your New Patriotic Party, think that your government of Family and Friends is one that cares about the ordinary Ghanaian in the street,” the statement read.

He added that recent events, such as the president’s hooting in New Patriotic Party strongholds like Ashanti and Easter, and the party’s MPs forcing him to fire ministers, showed that his government had failed Ghanaians.
