Education Minister-designate vetting takes place today, 11th February 2021. Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Education Minister-designate is expected to be quizzed on diverse issues confronting education in Ghana.
His nomination was celebrated by teachers due to his hard work and background as a professional teacher.
Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum’s vetting for the post of the Education Minister has gained a lot of interest and his performance today will be key.

According to Kwesi Parker-Wilson the Accra-based Joy FM’s parliamentary correspondent, Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum was made a part of the initial list. “It is because of the rise in COVID-19 cases recorded in senior high and junior high schools as well.”
“So the committee found it necessary to vet the minister at least so that he can quickly take over the ministry and put in place measures to control the spread of the virus. That is why the committee decided to include the Education Minister-designate in today’s vetting,” he added.
The teachers’ fraternity will also be excited to hear his response on questions regarding the Licensure examination which the NDC has wanted to axe out of the teaching fraternity and incorporate it into the four-year degree programme for those pursuing education-related degrees in public universities.
Again many teachers have still not been paid their 2013-2014 legacy arrears contrary to the claim that they have all been paid. The Minister-designate must provide cogent explanations on the matter during his vetting.
Again, there are many schools in our deprived communities that need an urgent facelift. It is important that the vetting committee finds out from him what his legacy would be for such schools.
The CCP training has been cancelled not less than twice before schools resumed, what is the ministry doing about the situation and how soon would the BECE placements be released since students would have to return to school on March 10th.

Before his nomination as Minister of Education, Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum was the deputy minister of education under Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh
When Dr Adutwum was asked about the released official list of the nominated ministers, he had this to say “Very exciting, at first I could not believe it.”
