Mahama: Dapaah's Cash Hoarding At Home is "Scandalous

Scandalous! – Mahama reacts to over $1m, €300k stolen from the home of Sanitation Minister

Former President John Dramani Mahama has questioned why the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, kept millions of Ghana Cedis in cash at her home.

Mahama’s comments came after it was revealed that Dapaah’s house help, Patience Botwe, had stolen over US$1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghana Cedis in cash from the minister’s home.

In a tweet, Mahama said that it was “scandalous” that Dapaah would keep such a large amount of money at home. He also questioned why the minister would not have deposited the money in a bank.

“Even if genuinely acquired, why keep millions of hard currency at home? Will @NAkufoAddo ever set a good example for public office holders in his administration?” Mahama asked.

Mahama’s comments have sparked a debate on social media, with some people agreeing with him and others defending Dapaah.

Those who agree with Mahama argue that it is not safe to keep large sums of money at home. They point out that Dapaah is a public figure and that her home would be a target for thieves.

Those who defend Dapaah argue that she is entitled to keep her money however she wants. They also point out that she may have had legitimate reasons for keeping the money at home.

The case of the stolen money from Dapaah’s home is still under investigation. It is not yet clear how the thief was able to gain access to the money or what she did with it after she stole it.

However, the case has raised questions about the security of public officials and the need for them to be more careful with their money.
