Finally, the plan to open the sixth-form centers by the World renowned Eton College has been approved in the three English towns as proposed.
Eton College together with Star Academies will create new colleges in the three English towns: Oldham, Dudley, and Middlesbrough. This initiative is to help the youth in areas which are disadvantaged when it comes to Education.
Most of the countries prime minsters studied at the Eton College hence the college will make a contribution of about £1m a year to each college.
Two hundred and forty students (240) will be admitted to each of the sixth form annually, and within Year 12 and Year 13, four hundred and eighty (480) students will be admitted as well.
The ultimate goal or aim of this initiative which was disclosed by a representative for both Star Academies and Eton College is to make students have the aspiration to go to top class universities and be able to make a remarkable impact on their GCSE exams as well.
As part of the free school programme from the Department for Education (DfE), the three new sixth forms have been approved upon sitting.
The three new sixth form will be called: Eton Star Teesside, Eton Star Dudley, and Eton Star Oldham. These new sixth forms will have both male and female students unlike Eton and also students of these new sixth form will not wear the same uniform as Eton College.
In regions of the county where education is less focused on, the Department for Education (DfE) approved fifteen (15) new schools with the inclusion of the new three sixth forms as well.
Also, two University technical Colleges, and one primary and secondary school for students aged from 4 to 16 years have been approved. The two secondary schools were also approved for students from 16 to 19 years.
