On October 20,1948 Alice Annum the Sprinter was born

Alice Annum also known as “Baby Jet”, the Sprinter is among the powerful women in the history of Ghana who has made a significant impact in promoting the good name of motherland Ghana.

She is compared to prominent Ghananain women who can not be left out when it comes to empowering young ladies with their achievements and personality such as Ama Atta Aidoo, Theodosia Okoh, Esther Efua Ocloo among others.

Alice Annum the legendary sprinter was nicknamed “Baby Jet” as a result of her speed on the field.

Alice Anum was born on 20th October,1948 in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana and product of Accra Girls’ High School where she had her secondary education.

She was an amateur sprinter untill she was discovered during the her early days as Sprinter.

She had the opportunity to participate in the National Sports Festival, a program organize annually to discover young talent and empower them  into the next level of of their profession in terms of Sports.

After the tremendous performance  she exhibited during the the National Sports Festival, she had a sponsorship deal to further her academic works and career in the United States.

She completed University of Tennessee and began to explore her given talent to the wider world since she has been trained by experts in the field of Athletic

Alice Annum bacame the first Ghananain female to represent the country in Olympics Games in 1960s and 1972 respectively.

After becoming the first female to be in an international athletes competition, she became a household name and role model to many young women in Ghana.

Alice Annum the Sprinter, also became the first female to finish 100m of 11.41 second in the 200m race.

In the year 1964, she completed the Olympics games but could not Progress to the preminalry stage of the long jump when she positioned twienth.

Alice Annum retired from International Athletes with a total of six medals consisting of three (3) golds, two (2) silver and one (bronze).

In the year 2010, she was honoured by Action Progressive Institute in Ghana for her hardworking and achievements in the history of world athletics.
