GTEC petitioned to probe St Monica CoE staff for kissing 3 students (VIRAL VIDEO)

Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has been called upon to examine St Monica’s College of Education’s chaplain for misconduct and violating Covid-19 guidelines, according to the Education Think Tank – Africa Education Watch (EduWatch).

In the viral video, Rev. Balthazar Obeng of St Monica College of Education kisses three female students of the College during a church service, prompting the Watch request.

When Rev. Balthazar Obeng, the Anglican priest in the viral video, allowed each girl student to kiss him for about three seconds, the congregation erupted in enthusiasm.

“GTEC has replied to our demand for an external investigation into Reverend’s alleged ethical wrongdoing and violation of COVID-19 norms,” stated Kofi Asare, executive director of the Think Tank.

“The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission has acknowledged receipt of our petition to externally investigate the alleged ethical misconduct and breach of Covid protocols by Balthazar Obeng of St. Monica’s College of Education,”

In the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic, a religious ritual leader’s role is to supervise and encourage good moral behaviour and compliance, not to kiss students, according to EduWatch.

After seeing the viral video, the Anglican Church in Ghana has criticized the behavior of the St. Monica’s College of Education Chaplain and announced that it has launched an investigation into the priest’s actions. The call to probe St Monica CoE staff for kissing 3 students is gaining public acceptance as the video continues to trend.
