A new curriculum has been introduced for Junior High Schools, but your school offers only a limited number of subjects. Write a letter to your headteacher suggesting two new subjects that should be taught in your school. Give two reasons for your choices.

Letter:

P.O. Box 442
Kwabenya, Accra
12th June, 2025

The Headteacher,
Bright Future Junior High School,
Kwabenya, Accra.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Request for Addition of New Subjects to the School Curriculum

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing as a concerned student to humbly suggest the introduction of two important subjects that are not currently taught in our school: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Creative Arts.

Firstly, ICT is an essential subject in today’s digital age. Learning how to use computers and the internet will help us research better, communicate faster, and become more confident in using technology both in school and in the future job market. It will also support us in typing our assignments and exploring educational resources online.

Secondly, Creative Arts would be a great addition because it helps us to express ourselves through drawing, painting, and designing. It improves our imagination and helps students who are naturally gifted in art to develop their talents. Introducing Creative Arts could also make learning more fun and relieve stress after academic subjects.

I believe these subjects will make our school more complete and prepare us for both academic and personal growth. I hope my suggestions will be considered.

Yours faithfully,
cdfdfdf

James Amu
School Prefect

Question 2:

The Effects of Public Holidays on Teaching and Learning

The government’s decision to add new public holidays has sparked conversations across the education sector. While these holidays are meant to honor national events and give citizens time to rest, they also have notable effects on teaching and learning.

First, frequent public holidays interrupt the academic calendar. This reduces the number of instructional days, making it harder for teachers to complete syllabuses on time. It can affect students’ preparedness for exams and cause unnecessary pressure when trying to catch up.

Secondly, public holidays can also offer a positive effect. They provide rest and mental breaks for both students and teachers. After long weeks of intensive study, a break can refresh minds and improve concentration and productivity when school resumes.

In conclusion, while public holidays are important, their impact on education must be balanced to ensure they don’t disrupt academic progress.
