Aide to Samira Bawumia has been called to the Bar

A personal aide to Ghana’s Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, recently achieved a significant milestone by being called to the Bar. Zelia Amsat Osman was part of a group of over 1,000 individuals who were officially admitted to the Ghana Bar by the General Legal Council.
This ceremony, held under the supervision of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, took place on October 20, 2023.
Zelia Osman’s journey to becoming a lawyer is marked by personal accomplishment and dedication. As the first child in her family to attain a university degree, she has made history in her family and community, particularly in Bawku, situated in the Upper East Region.

During her time at the Ghana School of Law, Zelia actively participated in the academic community by running for the presidency of the Students Representative Council (SRC), despite not winning the election.

Who is Samira Bawumia?
Samira Bawumia, born in 1980 in the UK, is the former Second Lady of Ghana. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Married to Mahamudu Bawumia, a former Vice President of Ghana, Samira is known for her advocacy work.
She has been actively involved in promoting women’s empowerment, gender equality, and child healthcare. Samira Bawumia has also been engaged in healthcare and educational initiatives, particularly focusing on maternal and child health, improved healthcare services, and enhanced access to education.
