Akufo-Addo ‘removes’ Ken Ofori-Atta as caretaker Trade Minister, hands it to Abu Jinapor

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister for Land and Natural Resources, as caretaker Minister for Trade and Industry, effective January 16, 2023, when outgoing Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyeremanten would have fully handed over.
When Alan Kyeremanten tendered his resignation last week, the President appointed Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as caretaker Minister of Trade.
Mr. Abu Jinapor is to act in that position until a substantive Minister is appointed, according to a letter dated January 13, 2023, and signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the President’s Office.
It’s unclear why there’s yet another change.
However, the government and the President have come under fire for appointing Ken Ofori-Atta as caretaker Minister at a time when he is struggling to deal with the country’s economic crisis.
