This comes few days after the death of a student at Aburi Girls SHS. It said the organisation was deeply saddened by the tragic passing of the student, which reportedly happened on Monday, February 5, 2024, following complaints of severe stomach pains
Moses Baffoe, a resident of Tamale, witnessed the sick student vomiting at the school’s entrance while on his way home. Despite making two unsuccessful attempts to alert the senior housemaster to the situation, no immediate action was taken.
It was only upon Baffoe’s third attempt that the housemaster finally arrived at the school entrance. However, by then, the student had already been taken to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
Subsequently, Mr. Baffoe reported the senior housemaster to the police for negligence upon learning of the student’s passing before reaching the hospital.
This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and swift action in ensuring the safety and well-being of students under school supervision. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and the school authorities may face consequences for any lapses in duty of care.
The incident, which occurred under strange circumstances, has had the management of the school come under serious criticism over what the family describes as neglect on the part of the management.
