Ambiguous Diagram For BECE Integrated Science Examination
Dominic Kushiator, a concerned citizen of Ghana has reacted to the just ended BECE Integrated Science paper which had some ambiguous diagrams.
According to Dominic Kushiator, who sent a letter to the West African Examination Council(WAEC) through graphic online, revealed that the Integrated Science paper of the 2023 BECE has some diagrams that was unclear and may have confused several candidates. He explained that the Question 1b, Specimen A for example was very unclear.

He believes that such diagram represent more of a mattock. However, it wasn’t drawn in a perfect manner. He believes that many candidates could get it wrong.
It is therefore his wish that WAEC finds a clear and appropriate pictures represent diagrams in the next Basic Education Certificate Examinations.
“I write to express my concern about the ambiguous diagram that was used in the BECE Integrated Science 2023 examination, under section A question 1(b), specimen A to be specific, per the snapshot below.
I believe that this diagram was too unclear and could have confused many of the students who were taking the exam.
I would like to request a clearer and more comprehensible diagram in future examinations, aimed at enhancing the understanding of all students.” Dominic Kushiator wrote.
The 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination started on Monday, 7th August, 2023 and ended on Friday, 11th August, 2023. The Integrated Science paper was written on Tuesday, 8th August, 2023. The paper ended successfully with several candidates smiling and few others not all that happy.
A total of 600,714 candidates sat for the 2023 BECE. Out of this number, 300,323 are males while 300,391 are females. 2137 examination centers will be used to the exams. 21027 Invigilators were available for the 2023 BECE.

The school placement will begin soon and end on the 4th of September this year. Candidates are advised to follow all instructions and select the appropriate schools.
