Anti Corruption: Special Prosecutor visits FBI headquarters
In an effort to strengthen its fight against corruption in Ghana, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) recently embarked on a significant visit to the United States, where its team engaged with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ). This strategic collaboration aims to equip the OSP with invaluable insights into best practices and organizational structures employed by these U.S. agencies.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, led the delegation during their visit to the FBI’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. The goal was to gain a deeper understanding of how these American institutions effectively combat corruption, as well as fostering a platform for collaboration and capacity building. This visit serves as a significant step forward in the fight against corruption in Ghana.
During the visit, Kissi Agyebeng held meetings with key officials from the FBI, including Jason Beachy, the acting Assistant Director of the International Operations Division. Furthermore, various unit chiefs were engaged in comprehensive discussions to exchange knowledge and expertise.

The collaboration between the OSP and these U.S. agencies offers the potential to significantly enhance the effectiveness of Ghana’s anti-corruption efforts. By learning from the experience and strategies of the FBI and DOJ, the OSP can better equip itself to tackle corruption in an organized and efficient manner.
As corruption remains a global issue that affects countries at various levels, including social, economic, and political, international cooperation and knowledge sharing are vital in curbing its influence. The OSP’s initiative to connect with the FBI and the DOJ underscores its dedication to addressing corruption at all levels, bringing the fight against corruption to the forefront of the nation’s priorities.
This collaboration sets the stage for a promising future in Ghana’s fight against corruption, further positioning the OSP as a key player in the country’s endeavors to promote good governance and accountability.
