The 2026 teacher recruitment by the Ghana Education Service (GES) ends on 17th April 2026. The next question is “What is the official 2026 GES teacher posting date?” This is the big question on the minds of teachers who applied for these limited but oversubscribed jobs.
The GES teacher posting date is the day on which the service announces the release of postings for the 7,000 educators recruited out of the nearly 50,000 applicants expected to apply.

What is the GES 2026 Teacher Posting Date?
Ghana Education News has monitored teacher posting release dates over the last five years and can confirm that the GES has, 99% of the time, released postings at specific times of the year.
The first release period for GES postings usually occurs after the end of the academic year, but no later than one week before schools reopen for a new academic year. The second window—which is less popular with the GES—is the release of postings one week after schools reopen for a new academic year.
The above release windows show clearly that:
The GES will not release postings before the end of the 3rd term of the 2025/2026 academic year.
Teacher postings will be released before or during Term One of the 2026/2027 academic year.
Since the 3rd term of the current academic year ends on 21st July 2026, the GES will use the period between the end of recruitment and 21st July to shortlist all qualified applicants for the limited slots. The final list of recruited applicants will then be published on the recruitment portal by the GES.
In a related development, a group calling itself Education in Ghana took to their Facebook page to state: “The Ghana Education Service (GES) should begin screening the over 12,000 applications received as soon as possible and ensure that all qualified teachers are posted by the end of May 2026. After this, another recruitment exercise should be opened in September to give more trained teachers the opportunity to serve. The Education Minister must also act quickly to secure additional financial clearance. Ghana needs no fewer than 30,000 recruitment slots by September 2026 to help address the growing teacher shortage in our schools.” However, the final decision lies with the GES.

On the application portal, the GES disclosed that phases 3 and 4 of the four-stage process are where the review of applications and actual posting decisions are made, followed by the release of postings. Now that the recruitment portal is closed, when will the GES release the postings of successful applicants?
The end of recruitment and Phase 03.
This is the most critical stage where decisions regarding who gets posted are made by the Human Resources department along with assigned stakeholders. At this stage, the shortlisting and validation of all qualified applicants are conducted, and the evaluation process begins. According to the GES recruitment guide published on 10th April, all applications will undergo the following:
Screening: The GES screens applications to ensure all requirements are met. Applicants who do not meet the requirements will be dropped from the list.
Results Release: The GES will release official results via the GES-GEDP recruitment portal. If you are not posted, you may see a message like: “Sorry, you were not successful with your teacher recruitment application.” The GES does not provide detailed information as to why an applicant was not recruited.
At Phase 04, the final stage:
Successful applicants receive official appointment letters and are posted to schools based on their subject specialization.
Teachers will be posted based on their regional or district preferences indicated at the time of application.
All posted applicants are expected to be ready to serve where they have been assigned, as that is where the GES needs their professional services.

Reporting for Duty as a Newly Posted Teacher
All applicants must report to their assigned district office to complete documentation before assuming duty. All original documents must be presented for verification. This will be followed by further documentation and verification before the official start of work.
Applicants, especially those desperate for a slot, must be extra careful not to be scammed by self-styled recruitment officials who charge huge sums with the promise of helping them secure postings. Such offers are fake and will only lead to financial loss, unnecessary stress, and lost opportunities.
