Ashanti Region: Sad News As Bus Runs Over Motor Rider To Death
The 64-year-old motor rider was killed when an ACCRA-bound bus allegedly ran him over at the Anloga crossing in Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti Region. As the police continue their investigation, the body of Baba Nuhu Abdallah, who has been named by them, has been laid to rest in the mortuary.
Nuhu Abdallah was earlier knocked down by another vehicle and lay in the middle of the road, according to a police record that the daily sighted. James Oppong, the bus driver, failed to notice Nuhu Abdallah’s body on the roadside and thus ran his vehicle over the motorcyclist. Police say the incident occurred at a spot on Asokwa New Road at the intersection of Anloga at about 4:30 in the afternoon on January 27, 2024.
The Scania Marcopolo bus was leaving from Adum, Kumasi, and traveling towards Accra, according to police paperwork. It is alleged that a 64-year-old man named Baba Nuhu Abdallah was riding an unregistered Yamaha motor when the suspect driver ran him over at the Anloga 007 intersection on Asokwa New Road in Kumasi at approximately 4:30 p.m. “The rider was critically injured and passed away immediately,” stated the police report, which added that the corpse has been taken to the morgue at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for an autopsy.
Additionally, the report mentioned that the driver who was suspected was apprehended and taken into police custody without delay. It was also mentioned that the motorcycle and the vehicle involved in the collision have been seized as investigations continue.
