Mr. Alban Bagbin recognized the media as an essential tool in effectively representing and reflecting the aspirations of the people. He emphasized that the workshop is a crucial step in promoting a more informed and participatory democracy.

During his opening address, the Clerk to Parliament, Cyril K.O Nsiah, highlighted the need to revise the Standing Orders, which have remained largely unchanged for 23 years.

Mr. Nsiah emphasized the challenges that have prompted this revision, including the need for greater transparency, the limitations of manual procedures, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on parliamentary operations.

“It is important for Parliament to refine its processes and procedures in line with legislative trends across the Commonwealth,” Nsiah stated, urging participants to fully engage with the orientation program to bridge the knowledge gap on parliamentary rules and practices.

Biden Gives a Passionate State of the Union Detailing 4years Plans

Joe Biden Gives a Passionate State of the Union Detailing 4years Plan

Joe Biden announced a fresh US initiative to provide assistance to Gaza and consistently criticized Donald Trump during his State of the Union speech on Thursday, providing a clear glimpse into the upcoming general election in November.

Biden made a significant announcement during his speech, revealing that the US military will establish a temporary pier in the Mediterranean near the coast of Gaza. This pier will be capable of receiving large shipments of water, food, and medicine, providing much-needed supplies to Gaza. Importantly, Biden emphasized that this mission will not involve deploying American troops on the ground.

While reaffirming Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas, Biden also condemned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where numerous Palestinians have lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes. He stressed that humanitarian assistance should not be treated as a secondary concern or a bargaining chip. Protecting and saving innocent lives must be the top priority. Looking ahead, Biden emphasized that a two-state solution is the only real solution to the situation in the long run.

Biden’s speech had a strikingly combative yet hopeful tone. He frequently referred to his predecessor, Trump, in a derisive manner as he criticized Trump’s views on various issues, ranging from foreign policy to immigration reform.

Biden began his speech by strongly defending US allies abroad and urged Congress to increase funding for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. He also criticized Trump’s recent remarks about Nato.

Drawing parallels to 1941, Biden emphasized the importance of the nation’s response to global crises, warning that history is watching. Reflecting on the violence at the Capitol on January 6, he highlighted the current threat to democracy. Biden compared the current situation to the Civil War era, stating that freedom and democracy are facing simultaneous challenges both domestically and internationally.

Furthermore, he accused Trump of being submissive to Russian President Putin, citing Trump’s willingness to let Russia act freely towards Nato members who do not meet financial obligations to the alliance.

President Biden strongly emphasized his stance on the issue, stating, “It is dangerous and it is unacceptable.” He also delivered a clear message to President Putin, asserting that the United States will not back down or submit. Biden’s speech was met with occasional outbursts from Republican members of Congress, who criticized the previous administration’s handling of the situation.

READ: Trump Challenges Biden To A Debate

In response to the criticism, Biden highlighted the importance of fulfilling the basic presidential duty of caring for the American people. The tension escalated as Biden engaged with Republicans on immigration issues, urging them to support bipartisan solutions.

The exchange culminated in a poignant moment when Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene called on Biden to remember Laken Riley, a victim of violence by an undocumented immigrant.

Biden expressed his condolences and stressed the urgency of addressing border security, urging his Republican colleagues to take action.

Even while facing opposition from Republicans, Biden took the opportunity to present a glimpse of his potential second term. During the State of the Union address, he highlighted the story of Kate Cox, a Texas woman who had to leave her home state due to restrictions on abortion care. Biden expressed his commitment to restoring Roe v Wade if given a Congress that supports the right to choose, receiving enthusiastic support from Democratic lawmakers.

In addition to this, Biden reiterated his campaign promises, such as safeguarding social security and Medicare, implementing a ban on assault weapons, and limiting the cost of prescription drugs. Despite concerns about his age and approval ratings, Biden humorously pointed out his experience and emphasized the importance of forward-thinking ideas for the nation’s progress, contrasting his vision with that of Trump.

As the country prepares for a challenging general election season, Biden has a limited time to convince voters of his vision for the future.

We firmly believe that as we move forward, we must not overlook our women and girls, as they often provide better solutions to engineering problems faced by women, who make up a significant portion of the world’s population today.

When a man attempts to engineer a solution for a woman’s issue, he may not fully understand the woman’s perspective. Therefore, I am confident that by encouraging more women to pursue engineering, they can provide superior solutions compared to what is currently available,” Mr. Asare elaborated.
