Bank of Ghana Exchange Rates and rates in 4 top Banks for today
The Bank of Ghana Exchange Rates have been released by the BoG. According to the BoG the rates are the interbank rates at the close of business on 22nd December 2022. It seems Ghanaians do not appreciate the rates quoted by the BoG due to the rates quoted online which show the dollar is gaining.
“Abochi has the dollars, you can only put government motivated ratings. In actual market value, it’s 12.50 to a dollar” a comment left on the post on Twitter read.
A check from Google showed that 1 dollar was selling for an average of GHS9.01. For some experts, the appreciation of the cedi was artificial and since no policy or intervention accounted for that, it’s now depreciating again.
Some Ghanaians are on the view however that all the whole BoG does now is to be posting unrealistic exchange rates. Others have called on the BoG to deal with speculations of an wards gain for the dollar. “Public speculations about sudden gain of strength of the dollar three days ago needs to be controlled” a suggestion commented on the rates posted by BoG read.
Speculators who commented on the BoG rates for today are expecting a wild rate for a dollar in January “By January dier 1$ = 20 cedis” a speculator indicated.
By January dier 1$ = 20 cedis
