BECE 2022: How I Got A Straight 1 In Mathematics

Mathematics is one of the biggest challenges for BECE candidates. In reality, it is one of the subjects that is easy to pass. Because of the mindset students have about Mathematics, two things usually happen. The first case is that the candidate might spend all his time and resources learning Mathematics at the expense of the eight other subjects. The effect of this case scenario is that the student will end up passing Mathematics and failing or performing averagely in the eight other subjects. Also, it could happen that the candidate might even flop in Mathematics.

The second case is that the student will ignore Mathematics and study eight other subjects. The end result is that the candidates might fail Maths and pass the other subjects. The author, today, will share his experience with BECE Candidates on how to pass and get a straight 1 in Maths.
THE AUTHOR’S STORY
Before we continue, it must be noted that passing creditably in Mathematics is a pre-requisite for admission into a Senior High School to read some particular courses such as General Science, Business, and others. In that spirit, the author took a decision to take Mathematics seriously. He gave the other subjects equal attention since it is not wise to put all your eggs into one basket.
The most important thing to note is how the author approached the Maths question on the final day. The author wrote his BECE Exams in the year 2017. From the author’s perspective, the questions were unambiguous and straightforward. He believes that passing or failing that exams depended on the approach the individual takes to all questions.

THREE SECRET APPROACHES THE AUTHOR USED
- The author took the objectives very seriously. Imagine scoring 37 and above in the objective. That will mean that the candidate has a higher probability of getting a 1 or 2.
- The author tried everything within his might to make his work more presentable and clear. It is normal for a candidate to solve a question and spot a mistake in the solution. That alone will warrant a cancellation of that particular solution. Since it is not ideal to keep that solution. With that knowledge, the author solved each question diligently and carefully whiles keeping track of time.
- The last was that, instead of solving the 4 required questions, the author answered 5 questions. This was because the author was uncertain about some of the solutions he provided.
