BECE: The Chief Examiner Has Revealed How To Pass Social Studies

Social Studies is the first subject that BECE candidates will write. Ahead of this journey, it is very necessary for students to be armed with the skills in answering questions. The Chief Examiner, based on observation over the years, has come out with 4 clear ways, in which BECE candidates can pass their SOCIAL EXAMS without trouble. Check it out.
a) Candidates need to be helped to improve their command of the English Language.
Social Studies is a reading subject and as such, examinations on it will require the usage of the English Language in it. There are few instances where candidates are asked to provide mathematical solutions to questions. Armed with this knowledge, students still fail Social Studies. And the main reason why they fail is that they cannot articulate their knowledge in written English(observation of the Chief Examiner). Therefore, the Chief Examiner has advised candidates to improve their grasp of the English Language.

b) Teachers are to treat all topics in the syllabus before candidates write the examination
Nobody needs to tell you that questions are set from the given syllabus. Also, there are few or no scenarios of teachers teaching students things that are out of the syllabus. Now that candidates have a few days ahead of them, they must learn what their teachers have taught them so that they will pass.
c) Candidates need to practice with past questions
If the Chief Examiner has told you to practice with the past questions, who are you to say otherwise? More often than not, old questions are modified and provided to students as questions. Candidates who have practiced with the past questions always pass.
d) Candidates should be guided to write their answers in meaningful sentences and expound on them when necessary.
The Chief Examiner is still insisting on the English Language but in a different dimension. Social Studies questions require that student explain their points clearly. However, some questions do not require much explanation. This depends on the points allocated to them.
