Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo Supports Over 1,000 Fresh SHS1 Students (BECE graduates) With Mattresses, Trunks and More

More than 1,000 students from public basic schools in the Shai-Osudoku Constituency are set to receive support for their second-cycle education.

The support programme is being organised by the Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo.

The programme is scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Dodowa Presby “B” School premises.

It comes ahead of the start of the new second-cycle education journey on September 18, 2026.

Students to receive essential boarding items

The support package is designed to help students prepare for life in senior high school and other second-cycle institutions.

Items to be distributed include student mattresses, bed sheets, metallic trunks, chop boxes, buckets and mosquito nets.

Other essential items are also expected to be provided to beneficiaries during the programme.

For many families, the transition from basic school to senior high school brings significant financial pressure.

Parents must often provide several items before their children can report to school.

The intervention is therefore expected to ease part of that burden for families within the constituency.

Who qualifies for the support?

The beneficiaries were selected from public basic schools across the Shai-Osudoku Constituency.

The programme targets students who achieved aggregates between 6 and 25 in the Basic Education Certificate Examination.

This means the support is focused on students who performed strongly in the BECE and have qualified to continue their education at the second-cycle level.

More than 1,000 students and their parents are expected to benefit from the initiative.

Schools represented among beneficiaries

Students selected for the programme come from public schools across different communities within the constituency.

The schools include Ayikuma RC, Dodowa Presby B and Shai DA.

Other beneficiary schools include Islamic Basic School Ayikuma, Agormeda, Ayikuma Methodist and Dodowa Presby A.

Dodowa New Town Basic B, Asutsuari Estate Basic A, New Jerusalem DA and Sota DA are also represented.

The wide selection of schools means the intervention covers students from several communities rather than focusing on a single school.
