Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Release Date, Cast And Trailer
Marvel Studios returns to Wakanda, but the late, great Chadwick Boseman is missing.
The release date for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which will deal with T’Challa’s death in the MCU following Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death in real life, is rapidly approaching.
A trailer debuted at the Marvel Comic-Con panel, depicting Wakanda attempting to forge a new path after the death of its king, T’Challa (Boseman).
The trailer also teased the upcoming soundtrack, which featured a mash-up of two songs.
Rihanna has since released the lead single Life Me Up for the film’s soundtrack, with the full soundtrack set to be released on November 4th, 2022.
Regarding Rihanna’s involvement in the soundtrack, “Honestly, I think it was Chad,” Coogler said on the red carpet to a PA news agency.
“A lot of unlikely things had to happen for it to happen, and Rihanna was very clear that she did that for him.”
Since T’Challa’s death, there has been much speculation about how it will affect the sequel, including who will take over the Black Panther mantle, with most betting on T’Challa’s sister Shuri (Letitia Wright), Dora Milaje general Okoye (Danai Gurira), or Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) after the latest trailer showed a woman donning the mask.
As a result of the incident, Marvel has confirmed that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will undergo a significant time jump.
“Ramonda realizes that it’s been a year since T’Challa’s death and Shuri is still not healing — she’s not taking steps to move forward in a healthy way,” director and co-writer Ryan Coogler said in film production notes made available to the media. “They go on retreat, away from the city, away from technology, to sit without distractions and perform what is essentially a grief ritual.” That’s when Namor appears.”
Furthermore, director Ryan Coogler stated at the D23 panel earlier in 2022: “It was just an amazing experience, and we’re absolutely looking forward to bringing it to you.”
“This is the calm before the incredible storm.” Chadwick, our heart, he paved the way – he showed us the way – and we had to match his level of excellence.”
Black Panther 2 release date
The film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to be released in theaters on November 11, 2022.
The film was originally scheduled to be released in May 2022 but was pushed back to July 2022 before being pushed back again.
The sequel’s filming began on June 29, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia, and is expected to last until next year.
When actress Letitia Wright was injured on the set and had to be hospitalized, she was forced to pause her filming.
“Letitia has been recovering in London since September from injuries sustained on the set of Black Panther 2 and is looking forward to returning to work early 2022,” a Wright representative told The Hollywood Reporter last November.
“Letitia respectfully requests that you remember her in your prayers.”

Black Panther Wakanda Forever plot
As previously stated, a significant time jump will occur for Black Panther: Wakanda as a result of T’Challa’s death.
“Ramonda realizes that it’s been a year since T’Challa’s death and Shuri is still not healing — she’s not taking steps to move forward in a healthy way,” said director and co-writer Coogler in film production notes made public. “They go on retreat, away from the city, away from technology, to sit without distractions and perform what is essentially a grief ritual.” That’s when Namor appears.”
“In Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the aftermath of King T’Challa’s death.”
“As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman).”
“The film stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli, as well as Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation.”
It’s standard practice for Marvel Studios to keep plot details for upcoming Marvel films under wraps, but that hasn’t stopped rampant fan speculation about this highly anticipated blockbuster.
T’Challa will not appear in the story after it was decided not to recast the role, with the plot instead focusing on some of the other characters.
This could mean that, as in the comics, Letitia Wright’s Shuri takes on her brother’s royal mantle, or that another character steps up to defend Wakanda.
Wright previously told PORTER that she needed time to process Boseman’s death and that the prospect of reprising her role is “strange.”
“We’re still mourning Chad, so it’s not something I even want to think about,” she explained. It’s strange to think of doing it [Black Panther] without him.
“Right now, we’re just grieving, so it’s trying to find the light in the midst of it.”
In fact, producers are struggling with this as well.
“I think we’ll see the movie through two lenses: pure entertainment and cathartic,” producer Nate Moore said on ComicBook’s Phase Zero podcast.
“I think this film has a different kind of pressure on it, obviously, with the loss of Chadwick, which was unexpected and unprecedented in a way narratively, to figure out how to deal with,” he added.
Who is the new Black Panther?
As previously stated, the trailers appear to show a woman dressed in the Black Panther suit.
While it is unclear who this is, the most likely candidates are Shuri (Letitia Wright), Okoye (Danai Gurira), or Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o).
Fans will have to wait and see because nothing has been confirmed yet!
