BREAKING: 2023 WASSCE Date Announced By WAEC Ghana

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is an important examination taken by senior secondary school students in West Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia.

It is a vital requirement for admission into tertiary institutions in these countries and is highly anticipated every year.

Recently, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) released a statement announcing the dates for the 2023 WASSCE. According to the statement, the examination is scheduled to begin on the 31st of July, 2023, and end on the 26th of September 2023. This news has been met with mixed reactions from students, parents, and educators.

For students who will be taking the examination, this news is both exciting and daunting. Exciting because they now have a clear idea of when the examination will take place and can begin to prepare adequately. Daunting because the examination is just a few months away, and they need to cover a lot of ground before then. This announcement serves as a wake-up call for students who may have been slacking in their studies, and it is a reminder that they need to put in the necessary effort to succeed in the examination.

Parents are also reacting to this news, and many are expressing concern for their children’s welfare. Some parents are worried that the short notice may cause undue stress for their children, while others are concerned that the COVID-19 pandemic may still be raging by then and could disrupt the examination process. These concerns are valid, and parents must work closely with their children to ensure that they are adequately prepared for the examination and take necessary safety precautions.

Educators are also taking note of this news, and they are working to ensure that their students are prepared for the examination.

Teachers must go the extra mile to cover the curriculum and ensure that their students have a good understanding of the subject. They must also provide additional resources and support to help students prepare adequately for the examination.

WAEC has also introduced new examination rules to fight attempt by students, schools and other stakeholders to cheat in the examination.

Revised Examination Rules

The Rules and Regulations for dealing with cases of irregularity in the Council’s examinations have been revised. The revision includes new rules on:

  • Destruction of Exhibits
  • Posting Live Questions on the Internet
  • Refusal to grant timely access to the school premises
  • Misconduct of examination officials

The revised rules are available on the Council’s website, and Heads of schools are urged to sensitise their candidates on them. The Council will also be embarking on wide sensitisation on these rules to create the needed awareness.

In conclusion, the announcement of the dates for the 2023 WASSCE is significant news for students, parents, and educators alike. It is a reminder that the examination is an essential aspect of the academic journey and that adequate preparation is necessary for success.

While there may be concerns and challenges associated with this news, it is an opportunity for students to rise to the occasion and demonstrate their academic prowess. It is also a reminder that the education sector must work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that the examination process is safe, secure, and effective.
