The decision also comes after stakeholders of Fijai Senior High School including the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) told the committee the fees described by the Ghana Education Service as illegal were agreed to be paid by parents.
Mr Kenneth Agbomadze however in a letter dated Monday, May 8, 2023, was warned about the primary responsibility to ensure strict compliance with all directives, rules and regulations of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
“Ghana Education Service (GES) will not hesitate to take severe sanctions against any officer who flouts such directives and rules in the future,” the Agency under the auspices of the Ministry of Education said in the letter to Agbomadze.
The management of the Service has also asked the Regional Director of Education, Felicia Agyeibea Okai, who took charge, to hand over to the headmaster “and accord you the necessary support for you to function effectively”.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) mid-April this academic year interdicted, Mr Kenneth Agbomadze, the headmaster of Fijai Senior High School in the Western Region of Ghana over the alleged collection of illegal fees in the school.
GES in a statement shared with AcademicWeek said his interdiction pends further investigation into the extortion of fees. “He is to hand over the administration of the school to the Western Regional Director of Education,” it said.
The investigative committee set up to probe the alleged collection of illegal fees by the immediate past headmaster of Fijai Senior High School according to GES management has been given two weeks to submit a report to them.
