Captain Smart reveals what Kufuor did when he told him he was seriously involved in galamsey
Captain Smart has said that accusing a president of galamsey is not something that only Addo Dankwa Akufo-government Addo does.
The journalist says he once told former President Kufuor that he is “seriously involved in galamsey” when one of his appointees was destroying forest reserves and polluting water bodies in Manso Adubia and the surrounding area.
Captain Smart says that John Agyekum Kufuor told Francis Poku, who was the minister of national security at the time, to arrest the person responsible.

He said, though, that he is surprised that President Akufo-Addo isn’t doing anything about Wontumi but is instead going after journalists who say it.
“I told Kufuor that he is very serious about galamsey. His own family was “deeply involved,” and Madam Chinery-Hesse was there when I told Kufuor. I said that Alhaji Salia is doing galamsey around Manso Adubia and its enclave, and since he walks with you, you’re okay with what he’s doing.
“So, when we got there [to Alhaji Salia’s area], Alhaji Salia came, and someone told Kufuor that was Alhaji Salia. Kufuor called him and asked him why he was cutting down trees and making water dirty. You know I walk with you, so people think I’m also doing galamsey because of what you’re doing. That’s not necessary.
“Right after that, Kufuor told National Security Coordinator Francis Poku to arrest him, and he was arrested,” he said.
