CCTV Footage Shows How Driver And Passengers Escaped Armed Robbers Attack On Accra – Kumasi Road

An awesome journey nearly turned into a tragedy when armed robbers attacked driver and passengers on the Accra – Kumasi highway. CCTV footage showed everything that happened.
In the video which is making waves on the internet, the driver and passengers heading from Kumasi to Accra got stopped in the middle of the road at dawn. The armed men started shooting at the vehicle. The driver immediately reversed the vehicle. As the car was moving backward, the armed men continued shooting. No one was hurt as they reversed to a very safe location. However, other vehicles that were infront of the vehicle may have fallen victim.
Typically, armed robbers operate by ambushing vehicles at secluded or poorly lit stretches of the road. They may use makeshift roadblocks or employ sudden, aggressive tactics to force vehicles to stop. Once immobilized, they swiftly move to disarm and intimidate the occupants, demanding valuables such as phones, money, and other belongings. Market women, known to carry substantial amounts of cash due to their business transactions, become prime targets for these criminals.
The modus operandi of these robbers often involves swift and calculated actions, designed to instill fear and coerce compliance from their victims. In the chaotic moments of the robbery, passengers and drivers are left with little choice but to surrender their possessions to avoid potential harm. The robbers capitalize on the element of surprise and the vulnerability of their targets, making it difficult for victims to resist or seek help.

Moreover, these incidents tend to occur frequently during the early hours of the morning, particularly at dawn when visibility is low, and traffic on the road is sparse. The cover of darkness combined with the quietness of the hour provides robbers with ideal conditions to carry out their criminal activities with minimal risk of detection.
In response to these security challenges, authorities have implemented various measures aimed at enhancing surveillance and improving law enforcement along the Accra- Kumasi road. However, combating such criminal activities requires a multifaceted approach, including increased patrols, community engagement, and measures to address the underlying socio- economic factors that drive individuals to engage in robbery.
Despite efforts to improve security, travelers along the Accra- Kumasi road, especially during the night, are advised to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary stops in isolated areas, and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities promptly. While the risk of armed robbery cannot be entirely eliminated, proactive measures can help mitigate the threat and enhance the safety of road users.
