Tragic news as Christian Atsu is found dead under rubble after the Turkey-Syria earthquake. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.

News coming in indicates that Christian Atsu has been found dead under the rubbles of the Tureky-Syria Earth Quake that has claimed more than 35,000 lives.

Christian Atsu was a Ghanaian international footballer player who was plying his trade in Turkey with Hatayspor. His demise was sadly announced by his agent 12 days after the devastating earthquake.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle winger’s agent, Murat Uzunnmehmet, confirmed his body had been found in a statement.

“Atsu’s lifeless body was found under the rubble. Currently, more items are still being taken out. His phone was also found,” he told reporters in Hatay, where Atsu, 31, had been playing for Hatayspor.

Atsu is survived by his wife Marie-Claire Rupio and three kids.

To all of us, Christian Atsu was a professional footballer, but like many others who have died in this tragedy, he was a husband and father. Really awful news – hopefully the Premier League will pay tribute this weekend. RIP Christian Atsu.

According to his Club, Hatayspor, the funeral of Christian Atsu will be held in Ghana. The remains of the player who lost his life under the collapse, is on his way to be sent to his hometown Ghana.
