Christian Atsu’s Son Wins League Trophy To Honor His father
Marie-Claire Rupio, wife of the late Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu, has shared a photo of her son, Joshua Atsupie, holding a trophy.
Christian Atsu’s son plays for the Gosforth Football Club’s Under-9 division team. Joshua Atsupie and his squad won the Pro Motiv8 Tournament after a hard-fought final.
His mother was so happy that she shared the special event on her Instagram stories.
Joshua would make his late father proud, Marie-Claire stated.
After a competitive final in the Pro Motiv8 Tournament in Washington, Joshua Atsupie and his team took home the trophy. His mother was so happy that she took to her Instagram stories to share the memorable moment.
She captioned the post saying, “will make his dad proud.” She then added the crying emoji at the end of the message to signify that she was still in mourning.
Marie-Claire Rupio, who has been married to the Ghanaian footballer for about 11 years, also shared some family photos with her late husband. The German dancer, a singer who is also an author, posted her family photos online.
The photos include a shot of the late winger with their daughter and others which captures Atsu with herself and their two sons
Joshua Atsupie is really making his father. Below are some achievements of his late father;
Atsu won his first senior cap for Ghana on 1 June 2012 against Lesotho, scoring in the process. He was described by the BBC as an “excellent prospect”, whilst ESPN added he was “quick and technically impressive”, and a potential future star for his national team.
The following year, he was in the Ghanaian squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. He started the first match, a 2–2 draw against DR Congo, and as a substitute in the following 1–0 win over Mali.
He returned to the starting line-up in the last group match against Niger in Port Elizabeth, scoring the second goal of a 3–0 win which put his country into the quarter-finals as group winners.
Atsu featured in the rest of Ghana’s matches as they came forth, scoring in their penalty shoot-out elimination by Burkina Faso.
Atsu was selected for the 2014 FIFA World Cup squad, starting in all the matches as Ghana was eliminated in the group stage.
At the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, Atsu scored twice in a 3–0 win over Guinea in the quarter-finals. He helped the team to the final, where they lost in a penalty shoot-out against the Ivory Coast.
At the end of the tournament, he was awarded both the Player of the Tournament and the Goal of the Tournament for his strike against Guinea.
Atsu is a devout Christian who shares Bible verses on social media. He is married with two sons and a daughter
