Christian Atsu’s wife and children make first public appearance after his death
On Saturday, February 18, 2023, Christian Atsu’s wife and kids were at Saint James Park for Newcastle United’s match against Liverpool.
Since they were reportedly invited to the club’s pregame tribute to their former player, the family has now made their first public appearance.
Marie-Claire Rupio, a German, was Atsu’s wife. They got married in 2012 and have three kids together—two boys and a girl.
On English Premier League matchday 24, Rupio and her two sons attended Saint James Park to watch the Magpies play Liverpool.
Atsu spent four years playing in Newcastle before moving to Al-Raed in Saudi Arabia; the family resides there.
On Saturday, February 18, 2023, the 31-year-old was declared dead by his current club Hatayspor, confirming that the player was discovered lifeless following the tragic earthquake that struck Turkey on February 6, 2023.
