Delayed release of school placement: Angry Parents and students roast GES on Facebook

Angry parents and students have roasted GES on Facebook over the delayed release of school placement. While parents and students are waiting to know their fate in terms of their 2023 school placement, the GES posted a set of images on the National Prospectus it released a week ago.

The GES did not get kind words from anxious students and parents who argued that there was no way they could spend on the items listed when they had no idea if their wards had been placed or not or if they had been placed as day students or boarding students.

Per the released school prospectus, only boarding students will be purchasing several of the itineraries. It will make no logical sense for a parent to spend money buying all the items that have been estimated to cost not less than GHS 2500 when the purchase is not yet out.

Some of the items have “school’s specifications” attached, yet no school placement has been released, and it will be suicidal to buy any items now.

Below are some of the comments on the post.

    1. You don’t want to release school placement, but you’re posting a prospectus.
    2. This thing is not necessary, it will still go down to what the schools give out besides students don’t even know their faith.
    3. This is not necessary, we need the school placement for Christ’s sake.
    4. This thing is not necessary; it will still go down to what the schools give out, and students don’t even know their faith.
    5. How can they buy the items if they don’t know their fate of getting into school or not?
Release the thing and stop this.
    6. All this is to be stolen by some hard guy. I suggest senior high schools in Ghana should also provide lockers and some basic things for boarding students.
    7. So those day schools, are they not going to sweep the compound, classroom, clean their washrooms, etc., and who should provide those items?
    8. How can the person know whether he or she will be a day student or boarder?
    9. Please release the placement. December 4 is around the corner, and you are wasting our time.
    10. How do you buy when you do not know whether your ward will be a day student or a boarding student? I disagree with this suggestion you are making. Day students are not actually buying anything compared to boarding. So please come again.
There is indeed so much tension and stress now, and the GES can do us all a lot of good by releasing the placements.
