School PhD Scholarship 2024

The School of Computer Science is pleased to announce PhD scholarships in computer science across an exciting array of research areas including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Security, Next Generation of Networks, Bioinformatics and Health Informatics,  HCI and Multimedia, Software and Distributed Systems.

We would like to hear from you if you have an interest in any of the above research areas and wish to join our research groups in Dublin in September 2024.

Scholarship

The scholarship value is about 114,000 Euro and includes a 4-year tax-free stipend (22,000 Euro annually), registration fee, a travel budget for international travel to conferences and a new computer.  In addition, all doctoral candidates will do some demonstration and/or teaching assistant hours in the school as part of their career development.

Minimum Requirements and Evaluation Process for the Doctoral Degree scholarship in Computer Science

The minimum requirements for entry into the programme are:

• A 2.1 grade (or equivalent) in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or a similar technical discipline.
• Some programming ability.
• Non-native English speakers require at least IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6 in all components) or equivalent (further details on equivalence of tests are available HERE ). At the application stage it is not mandatory to upload the English test. Applicants who have not provided proof of IELTS or an equivalent test in the application will be asked to send the document if they are invited to an interview.
• Contact details of two referees who will be contacted soon after the call deadline.

The applications will be evaluated through a three stage selection process:

1. An application form.
2. An interview with two academic staff from the School of Computer Science.
3. An informal chat with a potential supervisor.
