Don’t compare me to NAM1, I haven’t collected anyone’s money – Cheddar
Nana Kwame Bediako, widely known as Cheddar, has taken a firm stand against critics drawing parallels between him and the embattled Menzgold boss, Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1).
In the wake of unveiling his presidential aspirations under ‘The New Force Movement’, Cheddar has faced skepticism from some quarters, with comparisons to NAM1 stirring controversy.
Critics, including outspoken personalities like Afia Schwarzenegger, have raised alarms over Cheddar’s sudden political ambitions and the origins of his wealth, cautioning the public against being misled by appearances that may resemble the unfortunate saga of Menzgold, which left numerous customers in financial distress.
In response to these criticisms, during an interview with Free FM in the Brong Ahafo region, part of his national outreach, Cheddar addressed the comparisons directly, emphasizing a distinct difference between his and NAM1’s paths.
“I have never collected money from anyone,” Cheddar asserted, distancing himself from the operations that led to NAM1’s controversy.

He further highlighted his philanthropic efforts, pointing out that his wealth has been a source of support for the needy not just in Ghana but across Africa and beyond. According to Cheddar, his actions are those of a benefactor rather than a beneficiary of public funds.
Cheddar’s rebuttal didn’t stop at clarifying the differences between him and NAM1. He went on to draw parallels between himself and revered figures such as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Martin Luther King Jr., Marcus Garvey, and Haile Selassie, suggesting that his ambitions and actions align more closely with those who have made significant impacts on society.
“The greatest people in the world were not born great, they grew great,” Cheddar remarked, underlining his vision of growth and contribution to society.
The entrepreneur’s robust defense and ambitious self-comparison have sparked conversations about the criteria for leadership and the importance of discerning the intentions and capabilities of potential leaders.
While skepticism remains a healthy aspect of political engagement, Cheddar’s proactive approach to addressing concerns head-on and outlining his contributions to society suggests a readiness to be scrutinized under the public eye.
As Ghana heads towards another electoral cycle, the narrative around wealth, philanthropy, and leadership continues to evolve, with figures like Cheddar challenging the status quo and offering new perspectives on political candidacy and public service.
