Education for all: Dr. Clement Apaak’s advocacy for inclusive education

Dr. Clement Apaak, the Deputy Minister for Education stated that, President John Mahama’s government puts first the advancement of the involvement of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in general education. He said that aligning with executing the Inclusive Education Policy in Ghana, the ministry was raising its attempts to enhance impartial means of approach to standard comprehensive education for students with disabilities and other exceptional educational requires.
“This government have positioned a compelling on inclusion, and we dream to bring up an involving environment where everyone is cherished and can prosper in a reassuring society. “On this subject, the Ministry of Education is firmly dedicated to enhancing the involvement of children with disabilities and other exceptional requires in comprehensive education. We strongly trust that all our children and persons with disabilities must be open to chances to attain their peak performance in standard educational settings that perfectly meet their requirements.
Dr. Clement Apaak stated that, The current statement by President Mahama concerning the free tertiary education scheme for individuals with disabilities certify to the firm we fasten to exceptional education.
The minister was talking at a donation of teaching and learning tools and materials to two-hundred and seventy-five government basic schools in 17 districts over Greater Accra and the Northern Regions. The donation was done by a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Chance for Childhood (CFC), in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES). The ambition targeted at promoting the sizes of schools to involve children with disabilities and exceptional requires into general basic education.
The donated tools and materials consisted of the toddler puzzles, block alphabets and numbers, sandpaper letters and numbers, abacuses, building blocks, colour towers, animal puzzles, and other teaching aids and educational materials. Dr Clement Apaak went ahead to say that, the Ministry admitted that enhancing comprehensive education needed firm cooperation among essential beneficiaries.
“Therefore we compliment Chance for Childhood for participating in an central role in joining in the providing of standard comprehensive education in the country. “Chance for Childhood’s broad comprehensive interceding agrees with the Ministry’s attempt to enhance comprehensive education by making sure that, all children, involving those with disabilities, at all ranks of education, have impartial access to standard education, completely take part in classroom activities and attain learning results”. Dr Clement Apaak mentioned clearly.
He stated that, for example, that the organisation’s great and vital interventions, such as screening and assessment for learners at the Early Childhood Education (ECE) level, would make sure immediate discovering and intervention for disabled children.
Again, training educators in disability involving particularly for pre-primary educators, will make sure that they are sufficiently prepared to give specialised and personalised students assistance to disabled children.
