Teachers On Strike.
On Monday 7th November 2022, teacher Unions under the auspices of Ghana Education Service (GES) started an indefinite strike following the appointment of a new GES boss. The teacher Unions are of the view that Dr. Eric Nkansah was a bank official and not an educationist who deserves to be the new boss of Ghana Education Service (GES). Base on this, the teacher unions are calling for the immediate removal of Dr. Eric Nkansah from GES.
Teacher Unions On Strike
Dr. Adutwum Osei Yaw, the minister of Education, disagrees with the teacher Unions as he drops a belief profile about Dr. Eric Nkansah. The minister of Education added thta, the new GES boss has been in the classroom before and taught for about ten (10) years at Kumasi Technical University. For almost two years, Dr. Eric Nkasnah has been the director of Tertiary Education.
On this basis, the Education minister proves the point that, Dr. Eric Nkansah is fit and qualified for the position as the New boss of Ghana Education Service. With this statement from the minister for Education, we are not to not whether the teacher unions will call off the strike.
Currently, the teachers and the children are not going to school. This is going to have dire consequences on students’ performance and teacher input. Teachers must resolve this indifferences and to go back to classroom.
