Dr Adutwum in an interview with Pure 95.7 FM monitored by GhanaEducation.org disclosed that the new academic year scheduled to start in January 2021 will have reduced vacations to make up for the lost time. He furthered that, the reduction in vacation days for learners and teachers will not in any way affect effective teaching and learning in schools. From his submission, he said inter-school athletics competition will be organized within the academic year.

The Deputy Education while speaking said some significant changes will be made in the 2020/2021 academic year calendar for learners in kindergarten, primary and Form 1 JHS, and SHS until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is expected that the new 2020/2021 academic year calendar will start in January 2021 and end in December 2021.
