The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has hinted at the date for the 2020 WASSCE certificates release. Per its examination, timelines provisional WASSCE results are followed by the release of WASSCE certificates of candidates.
2020 WASSCE certificates release date
A staff of the examining body has revealed that due to the covid-19, the Council will issue the Senior High School certificates.
All 2020 WASSCE graduates who sat for the WASSCE for school candidates can visit their respective Senior High Schools (SHSs) to pick up their certificates.
However, graduates who owe their respective schools books supplied among other things will not be able to access it until they clear outstanding issues.
“WAEC usually six (6) months after the release of the WASSCE results issues the WASSCE certificates to schools which presented the candidates for the WASSCE for School Candidates examination,” the officer said.
The WASSCE 2020 online results were made public in November 2020, hence the certificate is expected to be in various schools from late May or early June 2021.
How to receive your WASSCE 2020 Certificate as a Private Candidate.
For private candidates to receive their Nov/Dec certificates they must visit Council’s office in the region they wrote the Nov/Dec Examination.
“Nov/Dec candidates are required to collect their certificate in person from the Council’s office in the region where they wrote the examination, Such candidates must complete an application form designed for that purpose”. The WAEC officer disclosed.

However, candidates who are not currently present in the country can nominate proxies to pick their WASSCE or Nov/Dec certificate on their behalf from the Examinations Council’s Office. It will require a valid national ID to go through this process.
“This requires an authority note from the candidate including photocopies of his/her passport (including the visa) and also a passport-sized photograph of the candidate,”.
