January 2021 School reopening date predicted by Education Think-tank

An insider has predicted the January 2021 School reopening date that we are all waiting for. The stakeholder revealed that the Government of Ghana is likely to reopen schools on January 18, 2021.

If this happens to be the case, that will mean a switch from 3-term to a 2-semester academic year system for Junior High School.

Parents and other stakeholders have been looking forward to the announcement of the January 2021 School reopening date to enable them to start planning.

However, the general public is divided on reopening of schools for younger learners from KG1 to Basic 6 who have been home since March 16, 2020.

In an interview conducted by Solomon Safo Boakye of Angel FM parents called for the government to do a thorough examination of the Coronavirus and how safe it is for the children to go to school. They believe that without a strong indication that children are safe, the government should not reopen for the young learners. Others feel the children have become rusty and there is the need to ensure the right decisions by the government will ensure every child is safe.

The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Mr. Kofi Asare in a social media post sighted furthered that this will enable more contact time for teaching to recover loss contact hours amid COVID-19.
