Ghana Education News Update: Employ All University Diploma Holders – NCOPST petitions GES and describes the current situation as a national security threat.
The leadership of the National Council of Private School Teachers has petitioned Ghana Education Service (GES) to employ Diploma holders from the various public universities.
Diploma holders who qualify to be employed by the GES include graduates from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), University of Development Studies, Valley View University, and others from both public and private accredited universities.

The council added that it is “very much concerned about the teaming Diploma holders in the country who have been jobless since 2013” and that inability of the GES to employ these Diploma holders has led to many of them teaching in private schools and receiving very low salaries. According to the council, some employers are also treating these Diploma holders with impunity.

The National Council of Private School Teachers has put on record in their petition to the GES, that over five thousand (5000) teachers with diplomas from universities have been captured in its database. It has described the situation as “a matter of national security”.
