On Tuesday, February 13, tensions rose in Ghana’s parliament when a normally cordial debate between Sylvester Tetteh and Kennedy Agyapong took a tragic turn.This whole thing started when Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh tried to welcome Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong as he walked into the chamber.Ayikwei Okine, a parliamentary correspondent for Citi FM, recorded Mr. Agyapong’s express displeasure with Tetteh’s attempt at a cordial exchange.

The abrupt confrontation caught several people off guard as the intensity of the exchange grew.Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo Markin moved quickly to defuse the rising tension and stop it from escalating into a full-blown altercation.The member of parliament from Effutu kept the peace by directing Sylvester Tetteh away from Kennedy Agyapong.Parliamentary observers have been discussing the incident and trying to figure out what caused the two MPs to get into such a heated dispute.
