Former Minister Under Mahama Sends A Bold Message To NPP Government.
Honorable Felix Ofosu served under His Excellency the Former President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama as deputy minister in charge of information. The former minister lament bitterly over the hardship that Ghanaians are going through under the NPP Government headed by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo and His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the vice president.
Apart from their insufferable arrogance which they strut around like peacocks chaps can be ridiculously mediocre. After destroying the Ghana cedi and seeing it tumble by 54% in value in the first 10 months of this year, moving from GHS 6 to GHS 16,they want us to celebrate supposed gains.
And these gains they say include a staff level agreement with the IMF and appreciation of the cedi against the dollar.
The same people who disparaged and demonized IMF programs in the very recent past and who vowed and lied never to subscribe to one , today want a mere staff agreement celebrated.
To even obtain the staff level approval, very draconian and extremely painful measures had to be implemented including crude haircuts under the domestic debt restructuring program which is going to deprive bond holders monies due them in interest and principal payments. Investors will get 0%,5% and 10% interest on their bonds in 2023,2024 and 2025 respectively. Those expecting principal payments for maturing bonds starting from 1st December, will have to wait for between 5 to 15 years to get instalment payments. This will create extreme hardships for Banks and individuals who have structured their lives and expenditure on these expected receipts.
In addition to the crude haircuts, Ghanaians have to endure an astronomical 2.5% VAT increase which will increase the prevailing hardships.
The 2023 budget also introduced a severe hiring freeze in the public sector which will be devastating for Ghanaian youth desperately seeking employment. They can also not look forward to private sector employment due to the harsh economic climate that has forced many businesses to fold up and lay off workers.
Let the NPP noisemakers know that theirs has been the most hopeless government under the fourth republic if not in our entire history.
A clear dearth of achievement in the Health Sector has obviously compelled President Akufo-Addo to join the fray in claiming credit for work he hasn’t done.
The Bamboi Polyclinic shown in the post he made below, and the District Hospitals at Buipe, Sawla, Somanya and Tolon are part of a six hospital project funded with € 89 million from the Raiffeisen Bank of Vienna Austria, which received Parliamentary approval on 16th March,2016.
The 6th Hospital is at Weta in the Ketu North District.
The contract for their construction was signed with Vamed Engineering and Construction Limited on 7th September,2016.
For the President to pass this off as his achievement is most misleading and disrespectful of the people of Ghana. This is the direct product of the vision and work of President Mahama.
