When the 2023 Free SHS Prospectus is made available by public SHSs, certain items described as illegal will remain the same. 

The reality is that there are SHS illegal items you cannot take to school as a student in any Senior High School. Hence when they are found in your possession. Once they are found on you or in your possession, they will be confiscated. It is a serious offense as a student to carry along things that the school rules forbid you from bringing.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) forbids students in senior high school students from bringing them to school. SHS1 students who will start their secondary school education soon must take this seriously.

Free SHS Prospectus 2023: Illegal Items not permitted in schools

Emphatically, the free SHS policy does not cover the items in the list hence do not take them along to school.

  • Mufti – These are all kinds of unprescribed attires you wear at home that have not been included in the list of accepted clothing.
  • Jewelry such as bangles of any kind, chains, necklaces, rings, dangling earrings, and all manner of expensive items in this class are prohibited.

Other items that are considered unprescribed things for Senior High Students in Ghana include

  • Sound systems and all electrical appliances not permitted in boarding schools.
  • Again, Mobile phones are still not permitted just as iPod Walkmans and disc players. The list is endless and includes chargeable lamps, fans, television sets, laptops, etc.
  • In addition, no student is supposed to have excessive cash/money. Parents are advised to give just enough pocket money.

The Free SHS Prospectus 2021 just like previous years has condemned the above items as SHS illegal items.

Parents and guardians are to be guided by these items listed as well as the official list that will be made available to them.

Also, the items declared illegal is in respect to all Day and Boarding students in SHS1, SHS2, and SHS3
