Factual Reasons Behind The 4th August Date
The Ministry of the Interior in Ghana has declared Friday, August 4, 2023, as a statutory public holiday to commemorate Founders’ Day.
- Reason: Founders’ Day is a national holiday in Ghana that is celebrated on August 4th. It is a day to commemorate the founding of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), which was the first political party in the Gold Coast (now Ghana). The UGCC was founded on August 4, 1947, by a group of Ghanaians who were inspired by the independence movements that were taking place in other parts of Africa.
- Spirit: The spirit behind Founders’ Day is to celebrate the achievements of the founding fathers of Ghana and to reflect on the country’s progress since independence. It is also a day to reaffirm the commitment to democracy and freedom.
The holiday is a day off for all Ghanaians, and there are usually public events and celebrations held throughout the country. The government has also declared that all schools and businesses will be closed on Founders’ Day.
Founders’ Day is a relatively new holiday in Ghana, and it was only officially recognized in 2018. However, it has quickly become a popular holiday, and it is now seen as an important day to celebrate Ghana’s history and its future.
How can the day UGCC formed be celebrated as founders day.We celebrate Heros not traitors.CPP is the political party that gave us the independent so why UGCC.If any political party be commended, then it must be CPP not UGCC
Too many holidays in Ghana!
Ungreatfull government of Akuffo Addo. We don’t deserve any NPP holiday.
