The Ghana Education Service (GES) Academic Calendar for 2022 is expected to be released to help parents, teachers, students, and other relevant stakeholders plan their academic and work lives.
Today, Director-General, Prof Opoku-Amankwa disclosed in an interview with the Graphiconline news portal team that, an academic calendar that looks beyond 2022, 2023, 2024 was going to be released soon. This may mean the GES would release an academic calendar for more than one year or the calendar may provide relevant additional dates and information related to other academic years apart from the full calendar to be released for 2022.
GES Academic Calendar for 2022 – Projections & Expectations
The Ghana Education News team expects that the 2022 calendar will include the following…
a. At least the full calendar for KG to basic 6 pupils for the 2022 academic year.
b. A calendar for Junior High Schools for Semester One and Two for the 2022 academic year.
The release of the full calendar for KG to basic 6 pupils and JHS by the GES will inform the-pre tertiary private schools calendar for the year. It is expected that managers of private schools and their associations are expected to convert the semester calendar for JHS into a three-term calendar for private schools as was the case in 2020.
c. A well-structured Free SHS calendar that is devoid of confusion for the 2022 academic year.
The Senior High School calendar is expected to have sub academic calendars for the following group of students:
i. Single Track Free SHS students to be admitted to year one in 2022 as well as that of Gold and Green Track schools and TVET schools.
ii. We project an academic calendar that will require students in the second year to report to school according to their batches (Gold, Green, and Single Track).

iii. We also project that third-year students will report to school in as one group as Gold and Green Tracks. However, SHS3 students who will start their final year and sit for WASSCE 2022 are likely to have both Green and Gold tracks merged. This has been the practice in the last two years.
