The GES announces dates for 2024 BECE and WASSCE examinations which indirectly means schools are to commence the registration of their candidates.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) announced the examination dates for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in a letter dated 5th February and copied to directors of education at all levels and to heads of basic and senior secondary schools nationwide.
Confirmed dates for 2024 BECE and WASSCE examinations
In a letter dated February 5, 2024 copied to Ghanaeducation. org, the exam schedules are as follows:
July 8 – 12, 2024 for BECE (SC)
July 1 – August 31, 2024 for WASSCE (SC)
GES indicated that, West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will provide detailed information regarding the registration of candidates for the examinations to the heads of the schools in the coming weeks.
Regional Directors of Education were instructed to disseminate this vital information to the Metro/District/Municipal Directors of Education for onward communication to all heads of Basic and Senior High Schools.
The above means schools will have to start processing the registration of their candidates for the 2024 examination year while preparing them for the examination it self.
The 2024 BECE will be the first to be administered by WAEC to be based on the 2020 new curriculum for Basic 1-9 students at the basic school level.
